City fans back Trust at launch

The launch meeting for the Trust was held in the Studio Theatre of the Millennium Forum last night.

Those in attendance heard from speakers Dave Boyle and Rob Bradley from Supporters Direct, Noel Mooney from the FAI and Kevin McDaid from the steering committee of the proposed Trust at Derry City FC. The speeches included a background to the Trust movement and the work it can do, and Rob Bradley related his experiences with Lincoln City.  Noel Mooney spoke on the power of reconnecting clubs with the communities and the benefits this can provide.  Kevin McDaid outlined the work involved to date, and the way forward for the Trust at Derry City.

Following the presentations, there was an open question and answer session from the floor.  There were also statements of support from the floor from team boss Stephen Kenny and club Chairman Pat McDaid.

The motion to formally establish the Trust at the football club was passed by a unanimous vote from those in attendance.  With a mandate secured, the plan is to ensure the formal registration of the Trust as an Industrial and Provident Society in the coming weeks.

Volunteers for the Working Committees were enlisted following the meeting, and anyone wishing to get involved can send their details to info@derrycitytrust.org.
